A letter to the editor in support of Michele Dixon Edwards

From The Recorder, written by Highland county residents Nicole Balenger and Vas Majer:

We write today to ask Highland County voters to send Michele Edwards to Richmond as our delegate to the General Assembly. Michele Edwards will fight to improve our health and well-being through support for fully-funded public education, Medicaid expansion, economic growth, safe water, clean air, and protection of private lands from corporate takeovers.

We often hear “Our children are our future.” It’s true, and it’s our job to give our children the tools to make their futures. Our two children attend Highland Elementary, and we see and appreciate the dedication of their teachers and the value of their daily in-person attention to the varied needs of all of their students.

A teacher herself, Michele Edwards understands the importance of quality face-to-face instruction using both traditional pencil and paper and modern digital tools. She understands also the importance of a brick and mortar
school as a secure and safe place for our children and all of us to develop and maintain a sense of community. Michele Edwards will say to Richmond: “No to virtual schools. No to privatized schools. Yes to fully-funded high quality public schools for all.”

Please vote for Michele Edwards on Tuesday, November 7.
