Virginia has always been her home. It is her deep love for and pride in the Commonwealth that is driving Michele Edwards’ Democratic campaign for the House of Delegates.

Michele will bring a new voice and strong agenda to the House – thoughtful and consensus-driven policy, aimed at protecting your well-being and security, and promoting new opportunities for education and employment in the 20th District. She will protect land rights and the natural beauty of the area while pursuing commonsense solutions to problems facing the district. Michele possesses a collaborative vision and she is energized to fight for your rights and opportunity for you and your family.

As a lifelong Virginian, professional educator, and parent, Michele cares deeply about the issues affecting families in the Commonwealth. Michele’s experience as a teacher, school administrator, foster parent, and advocate for children in the foster care system have given her deep insight into the challenges confronting children and families. While deeply committed to strengthening support systems for families and individuals in need, Michele is equally passionate about encouraging personal responsibility.

A person of deep faith and a missionary volunteer, Michele helped build a coalition of six churches in our district to support a primary school in a small village in Haiti. Michele volunteered with the Virginia Haiti Collaborative for six years and happily, this wonderful, dedicated group of Christians continues to provide an education to over 250 children who would not otherwise be able to attend school.

With the belief that education, job creation, and business is the solution to poverty, Michele now works for Partners Worldwide, a non-profit organization committed to supporting small businesses in areas of high unemployment in the US and around the world. She wishes to use these values to help move her beloved region of Virginia forward during difficult social and political times.

It is this voice – strong, persuasive and steady, which Michele will take to Richmond on your behalf. And, make no mistake - her voice will be heard!

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Michele went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Special Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. Thereafter, she met and married her husband, Wally. Drawn by the beauty, history and tradition of the region, they settled in Staunton in 2003 to raise their children, Maeve and Owen. They have found their forever home.

Passionate about collaboration, Michele’s mission is to bring people together from all political stripes to reach consensus on solutions that will bring prosperity, health, and opportunity to all residents who call one of the most beautiful places in the country – home.
