Letter to the Editor: Time for voters to make a change in Richmond

Staunton NewsLeaderHow are things working out for everyone in the valley?

Let us take a minute to look at the condition of our school system. The teachers are underpaid, the school transportation system needs new buses and and our schools need better, more modern equipment! Without high quality education for our children, who is going to fill the skilled jobs needed in today's work force?

Now let's look at the current condition of our highway system. The roads are more deteriorated than I can remember in my lifetime! Don't jump to the conclusion that VDOT is to blame! VDOT can only work with the funds they are given by those in government.

Last of all, let's look at the local law enforcement situation, again underpaid and understaffed at the present time.

Again, the operation of a properly staffed police force is dependent on ... you guessed it ... the money allotted by Richmond!

Now our current representatives tell us that they are doing everything they can to help the schools, Department of Highway, and law enforcement. I think you have to look at how they currently walk lock step with what their fellow GOP representatives tell them to do and don't speak for the folks they are sent to Richmond to represent.

This year we have two well-educated and qualified candidates asking for the privilege to go to Richmond and stand for the things that are needed here and across the state. I am asking you to thoughtfully consider casting your ballot for Angela Lynn and Michele Edwards on election day. They will make a difference in Richmond which will benefit all of us!
